Jacob’s Creek Chardonnay Pinot Noir Brut Cuvee Sparkling Wine: Tasting Notes
- Price – On this occasion a 75cl bottle was purchased from Budgens convenience stores for £10.25, this is a much higher price than the average price of the wine when compared with the same bottle purchased in the supermarket.
- Presentation – The wine is presented in a standard green Champagne style bottle and sealed with a traditional mushroom cork and wire cage. The bottle has an attractive imitation paper label and makes an elegant presentation at the table.
- Appearance – The wine is a pale straw yellow colour and when poured into a Champagne flute, small streams of elegant bubbles appear akin with the best of sparkling wines.
- Nose – The wine has a simple but attractive nose with fresh green apples and a little bread dough.
- Palate – Again, green apple dominates the palate however, there is also the addition of some melon like notes as well as the slight yeast of bread dough. Towards the end of the tasting, it is green apple again that follows into the finish. The wine has a slightly longer finish than is usually to be expected of a sparkling wine. In general, the wine has a good clean texture and is balanced with just the right amount of acidity.
- Summary – This is a well crafted bottle sparkling wine, if looking for a wine which shows off Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a New World wine twist, then this is defiantly a wine to try.
